Practical minimalism elevates the classical bones of a Victorian heritage building. The result is a state-of-the-art medical clinic that feels both confident and familiar. Stace Anaesthetics approached the Total Fitouts Adelaide Central team to do a medical/ wellness and beauty fitout to achieve their old-style luxury aethetic.
The challenge of this project was finding the perfect meeting point between honoring the much-loved details of the heritage building while adapting the building for all the needs and purposes of a medical practice.
The designer beautifully elevated heritage details such as ceiling roses, long, arched Victorian hallways, and the stained glass entranceway. Perhaps the best show of the marriage of heritage and modernism is found in the reception area, where a striking, contemporary light fixture brings attention to the beautifully restored ceiling rose.
Prior to this medical fitout, staff experienced displeasure in the ill-fitting layout. Great care was made by the Total Fitouts Adelaide Central team to tailor the space to need – keeping staff areas top of mind. After reorienting the stairs to fit in a much-needed kitchenette to installing a Vergola sun roof on the upstairs sun area, the staff couldn’t wait to get back to work. This proves that the focus of any commercial fitout should not merely be about attracting the right patients and customers – staff input should always be top of mind.
